Course: Networking Skills

Networking Skills (Andrew Wold) – 1 ECTS (ONLINE)

Course Format: Participants will have online access to course material one week before their first Zoom meeting. We will then discuss key concepts and assignments issued in the video material. The second meeting will take place one week later, giving participants time to practice assigned networking exercises. We will discuss these exercises during our final meeting along with participants receiving personalized feedback on how to implement optimal networking strategies. Total workload: 12 hours (approximately 5 in video material, 3 in meetings, 2 in preparations, and an additional 2 in assignments).

Summary: I am sure you have heard the saying “it’s not what you know, it’s who you know”. This holds true to this day and illustrates the importance of being an effective networker. Whether you consider yourself an introvert or an extrovert, knowing networking skills will increase the efficiency and ease of building a professional network that will support your future careers. This workshop will help you engage in the real world and the digital world. Beyond boosting your networking capabilities, we will optimize our abilities to present ourselves to future employers or future collaborators. This workshop will rely on group exercises, personal feedback, and social media usage to ensure a more effective and useful network to carry you to the next level.

Methods: group and individual exercises in networking. Ice-breaking and efficient information delivery. Social media tutorials and collective social media boosts. Presenting and improving your CV. How to use a network for personal gain.

Date: Feb 25^th and Mar 4^th, 2022; Participants will be splitted into two groups. Group 1 starts at 09.00-11.00, Group 2 starts at 11.00-13.00

Since the course size is limited, we will let you know two weeks before course start, if you can participate in the course or if you are on the waiting list for a spot. Course participants will get access to the ILIAS course in which the Zoom Link and further information will be uploaded.
