Course: Neuroanatomy

The human brain is renowned for its complexity, intricacy, and remarkable beauty—qualities that often inspire both excitement and apprehension among students. This course begins by introducing the fundamental building blocks of the brain and progressively expands to examine their interconnections. To accommodate a broad range of learners, the course is structured to offer multiple levels of engagement, making it accessible to both beginners and advanced PhD students. We will also explore how brain size relates to its structural components, emphasizing the brain’s highly interconnected nature. A central theme of the course is the relationship between brain structure and function. We will investigate how anatomical features underpin normal behavior and how alterations contribute to neurodegenerative diseases. This includes a systems-level examination of various sensory modalities.By the end of this five-lecture series, participants will be equipped with the foundational knowledge needed to engage with contemporary neuroscience research and to understand how specific brain structures contribute to diverse scientific questions. Workshop: Open Science

  • Start: May 28, 2025 09:00 AM (Local Time Germany)
  • End: May 30, 2025 04:00 PM
  • Location: MPR 11, Seminar Room
The goal of Open Science is to make scientific research more accessible and transparent. This is such a massive challenge, what can we (as researchers) do? Actually, there are many small, local changes we can make to ensure our own work is as open as possible. In this workshop we will see how to transition a project from being local-only to being accessible. We will look at tools (such as git and github, virtual environments, and containers) and practices for sharing our work, and making collaboration as easy as possible. [more]
